London Calling
Have you ever noticed that, no matter what career path a person has chosen, he will always strive to know that path’s celebrities?
Personally, I know a lot more posers than I do celebrities. I had a little lull there for a while. When I lived in Western Pennsylvania, nobody knew anybody, but once I moved to the UK, it all came back again.
It’s amazing who people will brag about knowing. I’m beginning to realize that even some of the people I’ve bragged about knowing over the years are not nearly as cool as I thought they were. Actually, they’re cool, I’m just not that cool for knowing them.
Can’t we all just get on with it? Let the chips fall where they may?
I registered this blog several months ago but, as often happens to me, once I actually had a venue to write in, I had nothing to write. And the fact that I’ve decided to begin this blog with an excerpt on celebrity doesn’t bode well for it’s future. But there you go.
It’s been over a year since Jamie and I moved to the UK and time has definitely flown by. Every once in a while we will look around and wonder “what in the world are we doing here?” Not that we don’t love what we do, but the idea of Tim and Jamie Miller living in London is a bit ridiculous really. Tim and Jamie Miller, who met in Shawnee Oklahoma. It’s a bit crazy really. But here we are, in the midst of the most culturally diverse city in the world. I don’t know if that’s an actual fact or not, but I can’t imagine one that’s more diverse.
People often ask me what I love and hate about London, I tell them it’s the same thing. I both love and hate its diversity. I love it simply because of the new experiences you get through it. There’s something very fascinating about being around so many different cultures and there’s something very pure about living among so many cultures. But, on a bad day, you’d pay large sums of money to have just one person around who could understand you.
